Earlier is better

Hair Thinning

Not shedding — miniaturisation. Each cycle produces a slightly finer hair until the part shows through. It responds well to treatment, and it responds far better early.

Self-check

Is this pattern thinning?

Tick what sounds like you. Nothing is stored, and it is not a diagnosis — it just makes the consult faster.

Often mistaken for

Telogen effluvium

A big diffuse shed after a stressor. It recovers; pattern thinning does not without treatment.

Traction alopecia

Loss at the temples and hairline from tension styling — and permanent if it runs too long.

Thyroid or iron deficiency

Both mimic thinning and both are treatable once identified. Which is why we run labs first.

We measure with same-light overhead photographs and part-width measurements at every visit. Hair changes too slowly to judge by memory.

Why it happens

Follicles producing a finer hair each cycle

In pattern thinning, sensitive follicles shrink under hormonal influence. Each cycle grows a shorter, finer, less pigmented hair until it stops producing a visible one. Nothing falls out dramatically — the density simply drains away over years.

Treatment aims to hold what you have and thicken what is still cycling. That is why timing matters so much: a miniaturised follicle can be revived, and an empty one cannot. The realistic goal is more density than you would have had, not the hair you had at twenty.

1

Labs first — thyroid, ferritin, vitamin D, hormones where relevant.

2

Then a PRP course of three or four, four to six weeks apart.

3

Daily topical alongside it, and maintenance every four to six months.

  • Rated 5 out of 5 stars

They ran bloodwork before selling me anything, which no other clinic did, and my ferritin turned out to be on the floor. PRP plus iron and my part is measurably narrower on their photographs, not just in my head.

    Clawson · hair density

  • Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I have been losing hair for nine years and I am hard to impress. This is the first place that mapped which areas were worth treating and told me plainly which were not, then referred me on for the rest.

    Rochester Hills · hair loss

  • Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Shedding started at three months and I panicked. They checked my iron, told me what was normal, took a photograph of my hairline and asked me to come back in three months. No package, no pressure, and it did recover.

Questions

The things people ask us

If yours is not here, ask it at the consult — or email it and Nagwa answers within a business day.

How soon will I see a difference?

Four to six months, and the first change is usually less shedding rather than visible new hair. This is why we photograph in matched light at every visit — hair moves too slowly to judge in the bathroom mirror.

Do I have to keep doing it?

To keep the result, yes — maintenance every four to six months, plus the daily topical. The underlying tendency does not go away, so stopping means gradually returning to your own baseline.

Does PRP hurt?

It is uncomfortable rather than painful: a series of quick stings across the scalp, with a cold pack and numbing to take the edge off. Twenty minutes, and most clients drive themselves home and go back to work.

What does the free consultation actually include?

Twenty minutes with Nagwa: a proper look under clinic light and magnification, your history and any medications, same-light photographs for your file, and a written plan with prices and an order of operations. No deposit, and no obligation to book anything on the day.

Can I spread the cost?

Yes — courses can be split into monthly payments through Cherry, with plans starting around $45 a month depending on the total. We will show you the monthly figure next to the total before you decide anything.

The earlier you come in, the more there is to save.

Free consult includes overhead photographs, part-width measurement and a written plan — plus the lab list we would want before starting anything.
