Persistent Hair Loss

Years of loss, several things tried, and a fair amount of scepticism. Reasonable. What we can do is measure where you actually are, hold what is holdable, and be clear about what is not.

Often mistaken for

Scarring alopecia

Smooth, shiny skin with no visible pores means the follicle is gone. It needs a dermatologist, and no cosmetic course will regrow it.

Untreated thyroid or iron issues

Years of loss with no bloodwork is common, and occasionally the whole answer.

Medication effects

Several common prescriptions cause shedding. Worth reviewing with your GP before starting anything here.

Invented for this design: where transplant is the better answer, we say so and refer — we would rather do that than take money for a course that cannot deliver.

Why it happens

Follicles that have gone from miniaturised to absent

Pattern loss progresses in stages. Early on, follicles are producing finer hair and can be revived. Later they are dormant, and eventually the follicle is gone and the scalp goes smooth. Treatments work on the first two groups only.

So the honest work at this stage is mapping which zones still have something to save, holding those, and giving you an accurate picture of the rest. That is a less exciting conversation than a before-and-after, and a more useful one.

1

Bloodwork and a medication review before anything is sold.

2

Map the zones: revivable, dormant, gone — photographed and documented.

3

Treat what can hold; refer for surgery where that is genuinely the better answer.

They ran bloodwork before selling me anything, which no other clinic did, and my ferritin turned out to be on the floor. PRP plus iron and my part is measurably narrower on their photographs, not just in my head.

I have been losing hair for nine years and I am hard to impress. This is the first place that mapped which areas were worth treating and told me plainly which were not, then referred me on for the rest.

Shedding started at three months and I panicked. They checked my iron, told me what was normal, took a photograph of my hairline and asked me to come back in three months. No package, no pressure, and it did recover.

Questions

The things people ask us

If yours is not here, ask it at the consult — or email it and Nagwa answers within a business day.

Is it too late for me?

For some zones, honestly, yes — where the scalp is smooth and shiny the follicle is gone and nothing topical or injectable brings it back. Other zones on the same head are often still viable. That is why we map rather than generalise.

Should I just get a transplant?

Possibly. A transplant moves existing follicles and needs a stable donor area and stable loss — which usually means medical treatment alongside it. If that is your best route we will say so and refer you.

Why do you insist on bloodwork first?

Because after years of loss it is worth ruling out the treatable contributors — thyroid, ferritin, vitamin D, medication effects — before you spend anything on a course. It occasionally changes the whole plan.

What does the free consultation actually include?

Twenty minutes with Nagwa: a proper look under clinic light and magnification, your history and any medications, same-light photographs for your file, and a written plan with prices and an order of operations. No deposit, and no obligation to book anything on the day.

Can I spread the cost?

Yes — courses can be split into monthly payments through Cherry, with plans starting around $45 a month depending on the total. We will show you the monthly figure next to the total before you decide anything.

You will get a straight answer, including the unwelcome version.

Twenty free minutes, proper photographs, a zone map and a written plan — or a referral, if that is genuinely the better route for you.
